Acuren Wind is kicking off 2025 with a significant investment in four Bronto Skylift aerial platform trucks, comprising three 90-meter and one 70-meter units. This strategic move aims to enhance our service options, complementing our existing platforms and rope access services to better serve wind farm operators.

Why This Matters for Wind Energy Operators
Wind turbine maintenance often presents challenges in terms of cost, logistics, and time sensitivity. The addition of the Bronto Skylift trucks to our fleet addresses these challenges by providing efficient and cost-effective high-access solutions. With the capability to access turbine blades in under 20 minutes, these trucks reduce downtime and increase productivity.
Equipped with advanced stabilization technology, precision controls, and industry-leading reach, the Bronto Skylift trucks ensure safe and stable operations, even in demanding conditions. Their rapid deployment makes them ideal for large-scale Leading Edge Protection (LEP) projects, blade maintenance campaigns, and Nondestructive Testing (NDT).
“Adding the Bronto access method to Acuren’s solutions for working at height in the Wind Industry is key to meeting our client expectations,” says Andrew Costain, General Manager of Acuren Wind. “Safe access methods, cost controls, and integrated engineering support for our trained and certified blade technicians are differentiators in the industry.”
What This Means for 2025
In 2025, Acuren Wind is poised to enhance its service offerings by integrating the new Bronto Skylift trucks with our existing platforms and rope access services. This strategic expansion allows us to provide a more comprehensive suite of maintenance solutions tailored to the diverse needs of wind farm operators.
Comprehensive Maintenance Solutions
Our expanded fleet enables us to offer a broader range of maintenance services, including:
- Blade Inspections and Repairs: Utilizing the Bronto Skylift’s rapid deployment capabilities, our teams can perform efficient blade inspections and repairs, minimizing downtime and maximizing energy production.
- Mechanical Services: Our skilled technicians are equipped to handle torque and tensioning tasks, conduct both annual and semi-annual maintenance, and perform end-of-warranty inspections to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of wind turbines.
- Nondestructive Testing (NDT): By employing advanced robotic tools and drone-based Lightning Protection System (LPS) testing, we can identify potential issues before they become critical, thereby reducing costs and enhancing safety.
- Season-Extending Maintenance: With climate-controlled platforms, UV-cured resins, and heated enclosures, we can perform necessary repairs even during off-peak seasons, reducing Annual Energy Production (AEP) loss and ensuring continuous operation.
Customized Access Solutions
Recognizing that each wind farm has unique requirements, we offer customized access solutions that combine our Bronto Skylift trucks, platforms, and rope access teams. This flexibility ensures that we can address specific maintenance needs effectively, whether it’s through rapid deployment for urgent repairs or specialized access methods for complex inspections.
Commitment to Safety and Efficiency
Safety remains our top priority. The integration of the Bronto Skylift trucks into our service offerings enhances our ability to provide safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance solutions. By reducing setup times and offering stable platforms for technicians, we minimize risks associated with high-access work and improve overall project efficiency.
In summary, our strategic investments and service expansions in 2025 position Acuren Wind to deliver massively improved maintenance solutions to wind farm operators. By leveraging our diverse access methods and comprehensive service offerings, we are committed to supporting the evolving needs of the wind energy industry.
Investing in People and Training
Acuren Wind isn’t just investing in equipment—it’s also raising the bar on training and safety. The new AIIR training facility in Goderich, Ontario, offers a comprehensive range of courses designed to enhance technician skills and safety. Training includes Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training (BST), Advanced Rescue Training (ART), and soon Basic Technical Training (BTT). Additionally, specialized instruction covers suspended platform use, blade inspection and repair, first aid, and Ontario Work at Height certification.
The AIIR facility also includes 360-degree suspended platform training, giving technicians hands-on experience with the latest technology used in the field. With highly experienced instructors and real-world training scenarios, Acuren ensures that its teams are prepared for any challenge, reinforcing its reputation as an industry leader.
Looking Ahead
This investment marks one of the largest in our history, reinforcing our commitment to advancing wind energy maintenance. By integrating cutting-edge equipment with expert training, we’re redefining industry standards and offering wind farm operators a smarter, safer, and more efficient way to maintain their assets.
We’re also working on launching a dedicated section on our website to highlight the Bronto fleet’s capabilities and benefits.
