Steven C. Johnson, PE

Project Engineer

Steven has become an invaluable asset in a variety of pipeline design and integrity projects, with a focus on non-ILI integrity programs. He has led risk screenings for over 300 pipeline water crossings, hundreds of miles of pipeline depth-of-cover data, and dozens of pipeline segments for stress corrosion cracking. Steven developed a cost-effective and precise method for locating pipeline points of interest in the field, which is now used daily by client ILI dig teams. His expertise extends to 3D modeling and GIS for pipeline mapping and piping designs, as well as concrete foundation design. Always eager to take on new challenges, Steven is also involved in editing drone footage and learning new languages. His creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills make him a key contributor to every project he tackles.

Managing System Wide Depth of Cover to Reduce Risk to Critical Assets

To address pipeline cover loss affecting pre-1980 infrastructure, a Midwest petroleum company partnered with Acuren's engineering team to develop a comprehensive monitoring program. The team created a process for identifying high-risk areas and implementing solutions, crucial given recent shallow-burial incidents. Their innovative approach combined public awareness with creative mitigation strategies, resulting in 95% cost savings while ensuring pipeline safety.
